Sedation at Dentistry for Children
Our goal is to provide safe, high quality pediatric dental care in a comfortable setting. Many children are naturally relaxed in our environment and readily accept treatment. For some children, achieving this goal may require a form of sedation.
Consideration
During Consultation, we consider the following:
Sedation Safety
For some children with extensive dental needs, the safest way to complete treatment is under general anesthesia.
Our sedation team is compromised of a medical anesthesiologist, nurse, dentist or pediatric specialist and supporting team members.
This sedation is administered by qualified and certified physicians with the assistance of registered nurses. All of our physicians, nurses, and dentists maintain pediatric advanced life support certifications.
Children are sedated by breathing through a mask that covers the nose and mouth. While some children resist this initial part, after a few breaths, your child will be asleep and comfortable. Your child is monitored throughout the procedure by an anesthesiologist. Children can usually leave the office between 20-45 minutes after the procedure is over.
